Getting ready for South Africa

south africa travel itinerary

In about 30 days you will find me in South Africa! I am already so stoked. Together with my fellow traveler (my boyfriend) we will cross the country from Johannesburg to Cape Town by car. Below you can read our 20 day travel itinerary. Not yet everything is arranged, so feel free to give advise!

Itinerary

The first week of our holiday is already booked. We leave Johannesburg immediately to drive to Hazyview. In Hazyview we will do a three day Kruger Park safari with Kurt Safari where we hope to see the big five (elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions and buffels). We also hope to see Blyde River Canyon. Then we will make our way downwards to Coffee Bay while passing Drakenbergen. In Drakensbergen we calculate one day to do a trekking in Royal Natal National Park. Once in Coffee Bay, we will take the coastal road to Capetown with stops in Port Elizabeth, The Crags and somewhere we don’t know yet. The Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge in the Crags will be our base to explore the Garden Route. Bungee jumping, visiting the Elephant Sanctuary and sandboarding are on our bucket list. Between the Crags and Cape Town we have three days which still need to be filled in. I was thinking about Oudtshoorn, Mosselbay and Cape Agulhas?

Our stay in Cape Town will last for 5 days. I definitely want to climb Table Mountain and visit local vineyards to taste some fine wine. A trip to Cape Peninsula is on my list because, OMG, there are penguins! Two days before we take our international flight back to Belgium, we will stay in Johannesburg to explore this vibrant city as well.

If you have some great tips where to stay or what to do in South Africa, please let me know! I am curious about your ideas!

Xoxo Zoë.
